The department of Sports, Wellness and Recreation (SWR) in collaboration with Sports at LUMS (SLUMS) organised its 3rd Annual Marathon on November 22, 2015 as part of LUMS Annual Games. The students participated in the 5 km race, faculty and staff in 2.5 km and children in 1 km. The event saw a great turnout and support from faculty and staff members who participated in the event with their families.
The annual marathon provides a platform to students and faculty/staff members alike to test their stamina and mingle with each other. Rana Ali Yar topped the student’s 5 km race followed by Arif Hussain, Imran Zeb, Umair Kiyani and Babar Ahmad Kamaln. In the girls category Fizzah Amjad secured the First position followed by Batool Fatima, Inshal Wajahat, Saleha Rashid. In the Faculty and staff 2.5 km race, Ali Khan stood first followed by Muhammad Mudassir, Haider Abbas, Liaqat Ali and Rashid Hussain.
The female winners of the 2.5 km race were Kaveri Qureshi and Fozia Shahzad. In the 1 km children race Eesa Mir, Khizer Mir, Abdullah Naveed, Ryan Hussain Khan and Ali Akbar secured the first 5 positions in the boys category while Alina Khan, Maryam Mir, Fatima Hussain, Ayesha Arshad and Sara Tariq were the first five girls to complete the race.
